Holiday Cheer

Sorry y'all, I've been completely slacking in my posts for this holiday season, but none the less, Christmas is in full swing these days, everywhere you go. Music, decorations, fashion.....it's all definitely putting me in the mood for this upcoming holiday season. I love the holidays, but then again who doesn't? From a new cozy wardrobe to sparkly fashion accessories, it makes you want to be festive in every aspect of life. Love it!!!!

It definitely makes you spice up your makeup kit as well. I feel like I need a new re-vamping of all my makeup goods around this time of year. It's almost like a cleansing process to start fresh. New year, new makeup?? Yes, indeed.I've been thinking of new and exciting looks for this holiday season as well. I've been searching the web more and more (mostly due to the fact that I'm doing most of my Christmas shopping online, dreading the mall) and browsing through tons of magazines. I'm loving all the new looks I'm seeing with the smoky eye and the added shimmer. Ugh, I never want it to end!!

Rihanna's Red Hot Lips
One of the biggest trends for the holidays this year is the "Red Hot Lips". From Rihanna to Katy Perry, everyone has been making this bold statement. I love a perfectly pouty red lip with a striking smoky eye for the holiday party you've been waiting to get dazzled for (yes, dazzled)! Normally, I like to go by the rule "one or the other", meaning either do a smoky eye and a subtle lip or vice versa, but when this time of year hits, all rules fly out the window. Poof!!! Things can be very tricky when it comes to red lipstick, because of all the millions of shades of red out there. No worries needed. Some tips I like to follow are, if you tend to have more pink undertones in your skin, definitely go for a red that has more pink in it. This way you won't be washed out and your teeth will look extra pearly white. If you tend to have more blue undertones in your skin (like me), go for a red that has more blues in it so it won't clash with your skin tone. My favorite shade of red these days is the Rouge Artist Intense in Moulin Rouge by MakeupForEver. It's the perfect shade of red and the pigment is so fabulous that it never fades throughout the day or night. I like to use it with my Too Faced Anti-Feathering Lip Pencil  to get the perfect lined lip with no smudging. My sister is hooked on this as well and it looks gorgeous with her dark hair and creamy skin. Trying to find that perfect red lip has always been a difficult road. One that moisturizes and stays put, it was like trying to find a needle in a hay stack (ok, maybe that's a little extreme, but it felt pretty close to this). I've tried so many red lipsticks over the years, but this is one that I keep going back to time and time again.

Glittered Smoky Eye

Glitter is in the air! Not just in Pink's song, but everywhere you look, more and more people are spicin' up their look with shimmer and glitter. I think there's something with the cold weather and snow that gets people shimmerin' away. My motto: "The more shimmer, the better!" Why not?! Show off those bold, beautiful peepers for all to see. Christmas time is the best time to add a little pep to your makeup routine. Get creative and try new things, you never know what you may come up with and may find your cool new look. I love to test the waters with a little added shimmer especially for an upcoming Christmas party or event. There are a few ways to add a little or a lot of shimmer and/or glitter to any look. Start with a basic smoky eye, then before applying your mascara wet your brush just the slightest to adhere any loose or eyeshadow shimmer/glitter to it (Doing this will transfer the shimmer/glitter in a more controlled way). Apply as little or as much to the eye area and finish off the look with your favorite mascara. Another way to do it is to apply the slightest amount of eyeshadow primer over your eye makeup, just enough to allow any added shimmer/glitter to adhere, but not so much that it smudges off all your fabulous eye makeup. Adding a little along the lower lash line is really pretty and ties in the entire look.

Now you're ready for that amazing Christmas party you've been waiting for all year long. Just go for it, girl and don't be shy what-so-ever!!You'll look fabulous!!

Neutrogena: Works For Cheap

Vanessa Hudgens and Hayden Panetierre
for Neutrogena
Since the age of 9 I've been interested in skin and what could be the best way to take care of it. Right around this time, I was also introduced to the skincare line Neutrogena by my fabulous mother. She has always sworn by their products to help get the cleanest of skin. And honestly i thought, if I can one day have fabulous looking skin like hers, why not jump on the Neutorgena bandwagon??

Neutrogena is an American based company now owned by Johnson & Johnson. It originated in 1930 with their infamous clear facial soap, that is still on the shelves today, that helps clear the skin of impurities without drying it out. From there, the company has grown worldwide with many more products developed over the years.

As a make-up artist, I have come across tons of cleansers to use, some way better than others:), but every once in a while I need to return to my roots and get the squeaky clean feeling that the Neutrogena facial cleanser gives me. If you have never tried it, I highly recommend it. It is just your basic face cleanser that no matter what skin type you may have, it works every time. I especially love to use it with my Clarisonic Mia to get this amazing, invigorating feeling that's as if I just received the best facial from an expensive salon. No Joke!!

One of my favorite eye make-up removers also comes from the Neutrogena line. The oil-free eye make-up remover is probably one of the best on the market. It removes all of my fierce eye make-up before I cleanse my face at night and does not leave any sort of oily finish. I would say that this is a sure contender with Lancome's infamous Bi-Facil make-up remover, but  for a fabulous price, who could beat this??

Summer is already over and Winter is quickly approaching, but you still want to have an amazing Summer glow without the dreaded orange effect....well I've found it for you. Over the years, I have researched (and by research I mean I have sacrificed my body into turning a few shades of hideous orange lol) and tried to find the perfect self tanner that wouldn't turn you into an infamous oompa loompa (if that's how ya say it). I have found a few self tanner's at department stores, but their all so pricey I can't afford to stay "faux tan" for the money. I finally came across Neutorgena's MicroMist Tanning spray at the grocery store and decided to hunker down and try it out. I was skeptical about it at first, it coming from the shelf at the grocery store and for the price, how could this possibly come out looking good? All my worries flew right out the window after the initial application. It leaves a gorgeous, non-streaking glow on the skin that looks so natural that people will think you just came back from the islands. I swear by this product in the Winter months and definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for that refreshing, natural glow. Another added plus for this product is it won't break you out like some products tend to do. I like to exfoliate my entire body and then after I get out of the shower I'll spray this on and wait for it to dry before getting dressed. In about 2 or so hours you will notice a light glow to the skin that will continue to grow over the next day.

For the price you can't beat it; one spray tan application at most salons is $30+ and will tend to fade in about seven days, but with the MicroMist it's about $9 and lasts about ten days and you can reapply it to your desired shade as often as you want. This is one of my favorite products for year round use and you cannot beat the price for your wallet and for your skin.

If you haven't tried any of these products I highly recommend that you do so. I have tried multiple things over the years, but still tend to come back to these when I need my fix. Let me know how you liked them too!

Brows Brows Brows

I've had a love/hate relationship with my eyebrows as far back as I can remember. The 'Unruly Brow' is probably my best way to describe them. I've had to train them into the fabulous eyebrows they are today, but it wasn't always the easiest of tasks to complete.

Brows are one of those things to me that have been long forgotten about, until you look into the mirror and realize you need the occasional grooming. I think people don't realize that brows go so far beyond just grooming, they really complete the look. Maybe it's one of those things that people have been intimidated about, but not anymore.

It's taken a lot of perfecting over the years to get my brows the way they are today. I love them!! But I have to give a little bit of love to some products that have gotten me to this point. The Anastasia Brow Powder Duo is my absolute go-to every morning. This little compact has completed my look for years now and I don't know what I would do without it. The powder is so subtle and natural looking, people may not even realize that your brows are "fake". All my friends know how obsessed I am with brows, a bad brow is like a bad outfit on a Friday night. This just can't happen.

Let's treasure those gorgeous brows, ladies!! Here's a little tutorial for you to see how it's all comes together. Enjoy!!

NARS concealer

So, I'm always on the lookout to find the best concealer to cover-up my dark circles and any imperfections I may have on my face. I honestly think I have used every product and brand under the sun and I still had trouble finding the perfect one for me, until now.

A friend of mine had come into my work at Sephora to try out some new concealers herself to find that she loved the new concealer sticks by NARS. If you don't already know my passion for NARS then you will now. I absolutely love NARS!! From blushes to lip gloss, it is one of the most fabulous brands for all skin tones. Ok, so back to the concealer....they are fab! When applied it leaves a sort-of silky texture to the skin and doesn't tend to settle into creases like some concealers have been known to do. I love to use mine everyday and apply it all over the eye to create a nice, even palette for my eye make-up.

If you are still searching for the perfect concealer with added benefits (no settling), then you must try the concealer sticks by NARS. Not sure where to find this amazing concealer? Check out Sephora or Sephora.com for all your NARS needs.

Squeaky Clean

So it's about that time of day where you start to get ready for your big comfy bed and you have to start the process of the dreaded "nightly routine."

This has happened to me too many times before, but now I've found that I kinda enjoy getting my skin so clean and applying all my night creams and moisturizers (plus it will definitely help in the long run:)). My new weapon in disguise to help make life so much easier these days is my Clarisonic Mia. This hand-held device helps get my skin ten times cleaner day and night and also helps your moisturizer penetrate the skin more. It also helps minimize the size of my pores and helps with those fine lines and wrinkles that we're all trying to prevent as we grow older. Yikes!!

It's probably my new found love that I don't know why I hesitated to buy in the first place. Of course it is a little pricey, but the added benefits you get in the end won't even come close. And right now for the holidays, it's on sale and some with added goodies as well!! Who wouldn't want to take advantage of this?!

I definitely would recommend this to anyone who is curious about it. It's such a great product that every woman needs to add to their daily or nightly routine:)

Mummies, Martinis, and Mascara

Omigoodness!! Last night was so fun at the event Mummies, Martinis, and Mascara hosted by Keira Lennox at A Pretty Penny Boutique. I applied a lil' makeup to my friennds Iris and Meghan (of M.Marie Boutique) for the event. Check out the scary but fabulous pics from last night.

On Meghan, I did a cheetah print on the eye area to be spice it up a lil. I did her whole face in everyday makeup, but spiced it up with a lot of highlighter (my favorite Albatross by NARS). I then applied the cheetah outline with regular black liquid eyeliner and colored it in with hot pink eyeshadow. Voila! You get a Halloween costume thats festive and easy.

On Iris, we did the infamous Black Swan makeup that is a true hit this Halloween season. To get the perfect look for this costume, I airbrushed her entire face white to achieve the pale look from the movie. I then lined her face in black liquid eyeliner and filled in the brows using MAC fluidline liner (I swear by this stuff for all looks) in Blacktrack. I then used a green eye shadow, white cream liner, and black liner to create the feathered effect around the eye. And to finish off the look, I used a mixture of black and red cream makeup to create the dark lip she wears. This way the lips stay on longer throughout the night. That's all folks! Now you can create the exact look at home for your scary ballerina.
